When it gets hot i can kinda smell a burning smell i just got a new box and haven't had this problem before. Also instead of connecting one sub to the other can i just connect them both directly to the amp and still be at 4ohms? Thanks for the help guys. Mar 5, 14, IL. I had one sub getting hot before too, one of the wires for one coil came off so it was running on one coil.

All i know is I'm not running many watts to those subs and they can handle a lot more. Mar 15, 2, 0 Iowa. As long as you don't smell any coil, see any smoke, hear any clipping distortion, and cone and dustcap aren't hot, you should be fine. When you are working the subs the dust cap will get warm. Not a big deal as that is how the air flows for the cooling in speakers. LOL, me too! You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy!
